Volunteer – Disabled Community Connection Network

About the Position

Disabled Community Connection Network (DCCN) is a monthly communication and information group for people of all ages (16+) with any disability. This group is hosted by the North Shore Disability Resource Centre. This group is facilitated by and for people with disabilities. We are looking for assistance with assisting with room set up and providing support to participants when needed.

Responsibilities

-Assist with setting up the room before session and assist with clean up after session
-Assist with getting and giving out food and drinks
-Assist with registration (keeping track of sign in sheet and making sure participants sign in)
-Occasionally meeting and directing participants
-Engaging with participants and making sure they are comfortable and fully able to participate. If they require anything letting the facilitators know

What we would like from you

Physically able to assist with room setup and clean up
Aged 13 or over?
Open mind to people with a variety of different disabilities
Previous experience with disabled individuals and or education of disability issues
Comfortability with various mobility devices, speech devices, and any other disability aids
Availability From 3:00 pm- 6:30 pm every third Thursday of every month
