Your contribution will help make a difference for people with disabilities. Donations are tax-deductible.

Now that the Resource Library Capital campaign is complete, the NSDRC is seeking ways to build greater security for our Information and Advocacy Services. These services are not funded through government grants and are essential to provide information and referral, public education, personal advocacy, and enterprise development supports to people with disabilities in our community.

In order to provide a secure future for these core NSDRC services, the Board of Directors has established the Chambers Memorial Endowment Fund. The fund is housed with the VanCity Community Foundation and will generate interest to be used to sustain our efforts to assist people with disabilities to help themselves. The fund was established in 1998 with the allocation of a bequest and individual donations, and currently holds just over $40,000.

Other areas for which the NSDRC regularly solicits donor support are our Summer Program and Information Services Program. The Summer Program provides opportunities for children with disabilities to attend integrated recreation programs during summer holidays and other school breaks. The donations are used to help families with registration fees and the hiring of support workers to assist the children during their participation in a variety of recreation opportunities.

Each year we fund raise $5,000 for our Vacation Fund which is used by adults with severe and multiple disabilities who live in our five group homes providing 24 hour care and support. All of the people who live in these group homes are on fixed and limited personal incomes provided by the provincial government. Our vacation fund allows a number of people each year to travel outside of the lower mainland to experience a vacation of their dreams.

If you would like further information please contact Dave Umbach, Finance Director at 604.985.5371.

NSDRC is an Agency Partner that has benefited from the Kids Up Front Vancouver ticket distribution program by assisting more than 100 kids, who are supported by the NSDRC, to attend events that they wouldn't necessarily have been able to without the generous support of the Kids Up Front sponsors.

Thank You Kids Up Front Vancouver for "Making a difference - one ticket at a time!"
